Can I install Windows 10 without dedicated GPU?

Hi
I am building this rig first time just for browsing and watching movies, no gaming at all. The motherboard I am planning to buy does not have onboard graphics, processor will be Intel core i-3 6100 which has integrated graphics.
So can I install Windows 10 in this system without buying any separate graphics card?

Of course, you can. Integrated graphics in the cpu can do all movies/browsing you need.

THE CPU only supplies graphics if the motherboard has onboard. So no, you can't get a picture... and that makes it hard to install windows without a GPU

You would only have an issue if the system had NO GPU or if it was an old, unsupported GPU.

Windows 10 should download and install the appropriate Intel drivers automatically.

*The only thing you need do is change the VRAM allocation in the BIOS. It shares some of your DDR4 system memory. Default settings are fine likely (64MB?) for basic stuff but if you want light gaming you may want to allocate up to 1024MB (so if you had 8GB installed it would use 1GB as VRAM and almost 7GB for Windows).

Why are you all ignoring this bit? You can't run IGPU if the motherboard doesn't have the capability?

Modern motherboards don't have integrated GPU. iGPU is integrated into CPUs now.
Motherboard just needs to provide video output. That's all.

Its why I asked for the motherboard model, as I wanted to confirm if it has the video outs. Not all motherboards do.

Can you find a motherboard supporting i3-6100, that would not have any video output?

Thanks for the reply. The motherboard I am planning to buy is either asus h110m- d or h110m- c. The specs for both about video output says graphics adapter ( CPU required).

Well - obviously cpu is required. You can't run pc without a cpu.

h110m-c - has DVI and VGA outputs.
h110m-d - has VGA and HDMI outputs.

OP - Are you hard set on buying a CPU from Intel only?
Have you considered AMD? AMD Ryzen 3 2200G?

2200G is newer than the 6100 and comes with Wraith Stealth Cooler..... i don't think 6100 comes with its own cooler.

and from what I can tell the 2200G is cheaper than the 6100 right now... don't know about motherboards. you will need to research that online

If a cpu has integrated graphics support, as the i3-6100 does, you are golden...

Were there even any socket 1151 6th/7th gen CPUs without IGPU?
