Can I install Windows 7 to a new internal hard drive from a usb stick?

I bought a new hard drive, my old one was corrupted so I can't access my PC at the moment. I have a USB stick with windows 7 on it, can I install it to my hard drive from that or do I need a disc with it on?

Also just another thing, my current PC came with Windows 7 on it. So I don't (think) I have the key for my copy. Will I need it and if so will I have to buy another copy of windows 7 or is there a way around it?

Where did you get the copy of W7 that's on USB?

And did your current PC come with any recovery disks?

There also might be a sticker somewhere on the case that has the product key on it.

My friend gave me the flash drive.

It may have done I'll double check, but I don't think it did.
