Can I install Windows 8.1 onto my new SSD for a separate build?

I ordered parts for a new build and I've gotten a few of them. I'm just waiting on the case, CPU, and graphics card at this point. I got the SSD I'll be booting from, and I was wondering if I could plug it into my current system (the case has a hot-swap port for SSD's) and install Windows 8.1 on it now.

No. dont do this. You will likely just be wasting your time.
a- it will load drivers for this motherbd and not the ones for your new build so it may not even boot in the new build.
b- if both pc's are uefi compliant the ssd wont boot in the new build because the uefi system will detect that its not the right drive.
