I currently have Windows 7. If I have Windows 8 ISO on my Windows 7 PC and I'm trying to install Windows to brand new SSD.

Can I use the ISO file on my pc and install Windows to SSD or do I need to burn the ISO the a CD and install it?

Oh so you do need either stick or CD to install?

I feel like I had windows XP, and I installed Windows 7 directly from ISO file on my hard drive... maybe I'm imagining...

I'm still finding a lot of stuffs about being able to install windows through Daemon =(
I get what you are saying 13thmonkey. I think because of that, if I install with Daemon, people seem to say I cant format or repartition the disk or something O-o

Here is what I found:
According to this person:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBB_xw5XEHQ
"What the windows 7 installer does is copies all the necessary files onto the hardrive before it installs and overrides all the previous OS. So when the computer restarts from the previous OS to begin the new OS install, the ISO is not need anymore. Thats why this method works. Discs are not needed to install."

Whatever, I'll just try it later 😵....

Can you do that? Because i dont have a usb drive or something else big enought to fit the iso on there, So i was thinking of just installing it from my harddrive, is that possible, and if no, what would go wrong?

Hello, I've actually ran into the exact same problem yesterday !
The problem was that I had Windows XP installed on a single partition and so all the free space left on my hard drive was part of that primary partition. The solution was to install a fresh copy of Windows XP and during the partition and formatting in the bios I split it into 2, so now I have 2 partitions: 1 is C which is the primary and the 2nd is the empty one.
You then have to install Daemon Tools and run the Windows 7 iso file from the primary partition while you're in it and select to install the files in the empty partition, this way, windows 7 will not try to move old files (windows xp) into the windows.old folder because there is nothing to move ! it's a fresh install on a clean drive, good luck with your installation, this should fix your problem :)
