If your board already supports the 4690, you'll support the 4790. BIOS flashes were mainly for older boards (Z87) to support the Devil's Canyon chips.

Before you do it check the manufacturers list of compatible CPU's, it's actually not uncommon at all for some motherboard to need a bios update depending on when you got it. My current one for example had a 4770k and in order for me to install a 4790k I had to flash the bios. Better to check the instructions from the manufacturer instead of asking people you don't know, it's your gear after all so...
