So, I am trying to test a laptop hdd in a computer I have to see if it's working, the computer doesn't have any place to mount the hdd cause computer case sucks. So can I just leave the hard drive in the case for a min while I test it?

Solution
It's not critical.

There are some cases where the drive is mounted vertically rather than horizontally, on edge, sideways, etc. All possible ways.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as it was not getting banged around.

If there is exposed circuit board on one side, lay it on the metal top.

You typically don't want to move a HDD while spinning. Most laptop drives have features that pull the head away when it detects movement/shock, but no point in pressing your luck on that.

As a side note- Drive Caddy.
