Can I leave my lenovo y500's back cover for cooling?

I decided to remove my Lenovo y500's rear cover and place it on my Spyker Cooling Pad..this drastically reduced the temperature of my laptop which of course made me quite happy specially since I love gaming on my laptop and its hot where I live making cooling difficult (for me atleast)

Now,can I keep this setup or should I pop the rear cover back in?...take note that I rarely travel with my laptop (and if ever I do I'm sure to pop the cover back in) so it just sits on my desk
