Can I make a TV a Smart TV

Can I make an HDTV a Smart TV with a Chromecast or are there features that a Smart TV has that Chromecast can not provide?

Smart TV just means that it has built-in Wi-Fi/network connection to your home network and has access to services like NetFlix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, etc.

Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, etc. are devices you can connect to a non-Smart TV to access those services.

Chromecast can do practically everything that a smart tv can. Only thing is that you'll be needing a smartphone, which you don't need in a smart tv.
