Can i make my own minecraft server that runs almost like 500 players?

What do i need to make my server include Different aspects such as plain survival, faction, prison, mini games, skyblock, kitpvp, and more
Overlaying tons of different worlds into the server (maybe as many as 30)
In other words, it will be a pretty large server
What do i have to do?
And whats the hardware ill need?
And about 500 players, i dont want to rent i want to make one...

This isn't possible for one person. You'd need allot of money and to hire a few people.

It's possible to do by yourself, but extremely expensive and time-consuming. Having mini-games running simultaneously would require a lot of code and custom plug-ins. You would need to be fluent in Java, as well as have several thousand dollars for a dedicated multi-core server with lots of RAM if you wanted the server to run well for all players.

Most large servers store the world(s) directly on RAM using a special partition called a RAMdisk, with server backups and permanent saves on RAID arrays.

You would want at least one high-end Xeon processor for the load that you specify.

Start small. You and two other users.
Build it.
Play it.
Then think about customization.
Get that stable.
Then think about increasing the user load.

You don't just jump into a 500 player, fully customized and scripted server farm, without a bit of previous experience.

Everyone here at Tom's can tell you the parts needed for the server and how to setup the OS. Setting up such an advanced server config would require knowledge only a handful of people have. You're best bet would be to contact one of the larger servers like Hypixel and see if anyone if their IT department would be willing to give you tips.

I can tell you this right now, one person cannot create custom game modes like skyblock that will be on level with any of the good servers, even if you are a very good programmer. I'd suggest you re-think the scope of your project. Making a thread like this suggests you haven't do so yet.

If your still interested in setting up a server like this you should buy a dedicated machine ( I recommend this server from SSDBlaze, it's $59 USD/month), as building one and hosting it from your home would be extremely expensive. Bandwidth costs from your ISP could get as high as $2200 USD/month, and that's on top of your initial investment in hardware.

You probably couldn't host 500 people by yourself but you still could alot also in order to do this you would have to build a thousand dollar plus server to host it.
If it is just a minecraft server I would recommend renting a server from a company like McProHosting.
