can i mange to run a 28gb of ramn (3×4GB + 1×16GB) please answer

hey.i have the ASUS z170p d3 and it support up to 64gb of ram a ddr3 model of all kind,i have now 16gb of ram ( 4×4gb) can i install a total of 28gb (3×4gb and 1×16gb )of same exact type a ddr3 1066

Mixing RAM is always a crapshoot.
It might work, it might not.

What will that extra RAM gain you? are you currently running out with the existing 16GB?

DDR3 does not work in a Z170 board. You need DDR4 RAM. If you have DDR4 then mixing the RAM *might* work but it’s likely that it will not.

I think your odds of working are poor.
If you were successful you would be running 8gb in dual channel mode and the odd 8gb in single channel mode.
The Z170-P D3 is one of the odd motherboards that will support ddr3.

If you have a 16 gb stick, I suppose you could try it.
But, I see no 16gb sticks on the QVL list.

If you want guaranteed working, buy a single kit of the size you need that is supported.
Either from the QVL list or from a ram vendor ram selection app for your motherboard.

Then, you could try your old ram to see if you can get any extra, but do not count on it.
Sometimes raising the ram voltage in the bios can make such things work.
If you want more than 16gb, I suggest you buy a 32gb kit

Yep that might be the only DDR3 Z170 board I've seen. DDR3 is going to cripple Skylake though.

If you HAVE to upgrade on that board buy a matched set.
