Can I mix 2x4 sticks of RAM and 2x8 sticks of RAM?

I have 8gb's of corsair vengeance lpx RAM installed in my computer in dual channel (2x4), would it be possible to mix 16 more gigs? (2x8)

It's always a bad idea to mix and match RAM. Even though RAM modules are similar compatibility issues may occur. That's why RAM is sold in kits.
The best choice would be to sell your 2x4 kit and buy the 2x8 after.
