can i mix an 1866 ram with a 1600

i bout a crucial ballistix sport that is 1600 and a crucial ballistix elite taht is 1866, will i get the 1866 performance from the elite ram or will it bring itself to 1600 for the dual channel setup?

It's never a good idea to purchase and mix sticks, too great a possibility of being problematic....With different freq sticks one set will be out of spec which generally requires additional voltage(s) and can equal more heat also
