Can i mix ram?

I was wondering, can I mix RAM that is from different brands with the same frequency? the ram I'm looking for has been discontinued. id be grateful if anyone could tell me some other things with the ram including the answer to my question,

You can, but only sometimes.
RAM can be a bit needed when mixing kits, which is why RAM is sold in pairs that have been tested to work together.
You can try getting the new RAM and see if it works, it wont harm anything if it dosent, but there is a chance it wont read the new kit.

You can try. It may or may not work without issue. The guaranteed option is sell what you have and buy a kit of the RAM you want.
