Question Can I mix these 2 types of ram for my Alienware m15 laptop?

The laptop came with a 8GB 1RX8 DDR4 SODIMM 2666MHz. I want to get a Crucial 8GB DDR4 2666 MT/s SODIMM 260-Pin memory, to put alongside my original ram.

I know, I've read this on other forums. These two were just so similar, I was wondering if I would have very little issue compared to other ram.

They look very similar, except the manufactures are different. As far as I'm concerned, they are the same ram by the stats. I just don't want to buy a $120 GB ram from the dell website, when crucial has the same stats but only for $33.

Mixing ram may work but it may not. There is no way we can tell you it 100% will or won't work.

I suggest buying the ram with a return policy so you can return it if it doesn't work.

Buy from somewhere with a good return policy, and see what happens.

Given the fact that the specs of the two are essentially the same, the odds are it will work but as others have said there is always the possibility that the two are incompatible. It's worth a try.
