[SOLVED] Can I Move Existing Windows 10 to a new PC?

Hey guys, I was wondering if i have Windows 10 installed on my ssd and i want to move this ssd to a completely new pc I mean new motherboard, new cpu and all that, will i have to reinstall Windows or will the existing installation boot and run okay?

Best practice is a fresh install in the new hardware.


Moving an OS like that has 3 possibilities:

1. It boots up just fine.
2. It fails completely
3. It boots up, but you're chasing issues for weeks/months.

I've seen all 3.

Win 10 is better than previous versions, but by no means 100% "It will work".

A fresh install is strongly recommended, often required.


You can try it, though.
Prepare for a full install.
try it.
If it works, great. If it fails, you're prepared for that eventuality.

I've had some people tell me they got away with doing this.
Most of them only thought they got away with it and problems occurred later.
As was said up above...it's best to do a clean install.
I've personally tried to do this just for fun and it didn't go well.
