So i recently bought a 144hz monitor
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KO4518I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
which i wanted to hook up to my laptop but HDMI does not support 144hz and then I heard that if i get a HDMI to Dvi converter then it will work. That was not the case I still have 60hz and I don't think there is a chance of me being able to run 144hz on this laptop

This is the laptop I am using
https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Y50-Laptop-Computer-Generation/dp/B00K71W5SC/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520369105&sr=1-7&keywords=lenovo+y50
(shows ports in the images)

I can't support 144hz at all correct :(?

Solution
If your laptop doesn't have DisplayPort, then no you can't use a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.

If you have a laptop with only HDMI, then it is impossible to connect to the GN246HL at more than 60 Hz. You need to return it and get a monitor that supports 120+ Hz over HDMI.
Display port cables are also an option. Most 144 Hz monitors will not work with HDMI cables.

Your ports are listed as "Ports: 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, combination mic/headphone jack, HDMI, 4-in-1 card reader, Ethernet, SPDIF".

So, unless you return your monitor and get another then you can't use the 144 Hz capability. You can use it on another PC with display port and maybe Dual-Link DVI.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from potatoseal9 : "If i get this adapter will I finally be able to run 144hz?"

Recently I got a 144hz monitor that REQUIRES Dual link but problem is I have a laptop with HDMI and 4 USB ports, and it wouldn't work with a DVI to HDMI adapter since it needs dual link.

Was wondering if I got this http://www.icentre.com.mt/mini-dual-port-dual-link-dvi-adapter-2 will I finally be able to have 144hz on my monitor

or this if apple products won't work on windows
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-MDP2DVID-DisplayPort-Dual-Link-Powered/dp/B004I6L6DW

I do not have a display port by the way, only 4 USB slots and a HDMI
