My monitor is the dell se2717h i bought it for $200 in 2017. Its a full hd display with 60 hz refresh rate. So i wanted to oc my monitor to 75 hz to play smooth game. Is it possible to do that? will this reduce my monitors life?

Hey there,

The short answer is yes and yes :)

You can OC your monitor. Most 60hz standard panels will OC to 75hz. Simply to the the Nvidia control panel , change resolution settings, customize and then custom resolution. Change the refresh rate to 75hz and test. Then save settings and exit. You can then use something like this to check for dropped frames : UFO Test: Multiple Framerates (testufo.com) Take a shot of your screen with a decent camera to determine if you have dropped frames. Then play some games and see how it feels. If you notice any artefacts or issues, then roll back to normal res straight away. It means your monitor will not work very well with 75hz. You can try lower at 70 or 65, but not much point any lower...

Yes, your monitor may lose some lifespan. However, the difference isn't much. I've a BenQ 1080p 60hz monitor I use for one of my rigs. It's been at 75hz for 3 years. No issues at all. If get 5 years at 75hz instead of 5.5 years at 60hz, is there really much to be worried about? No. You will probably have replaced the monitor before that timescale any way.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
