P5K Asus Mobo.

I know that my Mobo aint supporting SLI, but Crossfire.

I ordered a Nvidia 295 GTX card, since my card did not support 2 x 285's GTX cards for SLI...

But i was assured i could use Nvidia 295 since that's 2x cards in 1? which means.. it's not like "real SLI"

I should be able to use that right?

Regards, - The Noobster :p

It's not... Q6600 Clocked to 3.0, 8 Gb ram :)

750W Corsair PSU ved 8/6 pins cabels for the maximum power to the card.

If your board supports crossfire why not go with 2 4890 and smoke the gtx 295? With the 295 you are basically gettign the performance of 2 260's.

a GTX295 is 2 GTX275 ....

If he dont have a SLI or CF mobo and he really want the TOP gpu ... the GTX295 ( go for the Single PCB ) is the top of the line ...

GTX260 : 216SP 576mhz stock core.
GTX275 : 240SP 633mhz stock core.
GTX295 : 240SPx2 576mhz stock core

If you look at the SP you clearly see that the GTX295 is a DUAL GTX275 .... dont just look and BENCH to tell wich card is what ...

The EVGA single PCB GTX295 is clocked at 676mhz ( something like that )

Sorry i missed the part where he told he had a P5K.

You can not go off the sp and say it is a 275 because the 280 has that also, However you are correct it is pretty much 2 underclocked gtx 275's. Just had to look at the specs a little better. It does perform inbetween 2 gtx 260's and 2 gtx 275's the latter being faster.

Yup.

The OP seems to already have ordered his GTX295 ..... its gona work on his mobo but he wont be able to SLI it since he have a CF mobo. BTW, hes good until DX11 card with a GTX295 ....

That is true but he said he ordered it he might have time to change. 2 4890's will outperform the 295 and most likely cost less if he has time if not stick with the 295 untill dx11 cards are released and stable drivers with games that support it. It just boggles my mind why peple buy nvidia cards when thier motherboard supporst crossfire and not sli. I am neither pro ati nor nvidia but think you should use what the board was made for.

As you can see i have both Nvidia and ATI cards ;) everyone have a chance with me ;)

If he can change his order, i would recommand similar, but start with only ONE HD4890 and CF if you really need too....

What RES are you using OP ?

I use both ati and nvidia cards also. Thats why I am glad core i7 opened up the options abit more. Have a q9450 system running 4870 crossfire and my main rig is core i7 with tri gtx 285's. Hopefully the next gen gfx cards are even better.

He is at 1920x1200. Some moron talked him out of buying the 4890s in a different forum stating that his board does not support crossfire. I hate when people give out false information.

Oh, well it seems the thread's alive... :)

Well... basicly i thought of Nvidias 295 at the very beginning.. but mostly because i'm most into Nvidia... I did think of Crossfire with 2 x 4890 the new version with a higher clock speed and 2gb each... i'll probably buy my uncles 295 around christmass, since it'll be extremely cheap and go for Quad SLI with it.. and 295 is like 2x 275's standard retail version... you can't compare it with an overclocked edition... which makes sence.

For now, i'm just glad i'll be able to handle most games again, and when SLI's working just a little better than now, i'll get a new mobo that supports it... :)

Just ordered my new corsair ram with 2000 mhz! :) only 6gb tho, but those DDR3 works wonders... =)

I do sure appreciate all the info fellas, and i may try out those new 5870s when crossfire's up... i'll build another pc... could use 2.

My 295 should work without probs tho, for most games.... :) at that res i'm playing at.

If you are using the same mobo you can not sli any cards with it. you can only use one gtx 295 as your board only supports crossfire ant that is why were were trying to lead you down that path.Pne pcb means there 2 gpus on one board instead of usually 2 boards with one each and the cooling in the middle.
