I'm trying to find out if the ga-h81m-d3v motherboard can overclock a g3258 cpu. I'm wanting to use it in a cheap hyperspin arcade emulator computer that needs a 4ghz or so processor for ps2 and wii emulation. The processor was recommended on a emulation forum but can't find out if it supports overclocking and it has already shipped from Amazon.

Just because something wants 4GHz doesn't mean it truly needs it.

Neither the PS2 or Wii had a 4GHz CPU so I think you'll be plenty fine at 3.2GHz.

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card in this system? If so, you can use GPU acceleration. This will further reduce the CPU load and allow for higher performance on a slower CPU, to a point of course.

Yes at least one guy on here verified that he got a G3258 to 4.0ghz on that board, It definitely wouldn't be my first choice in motherboards for overcloking however.

Thanks. It was looking like it "could" but it may not be the 4.4ghz that some can do and may just be 4.0 to 4.3. I'm getting ready to buy an nvidia gtx 750 ti (2gb). I read I may be restricted to up to 1.2 volts on the cheaper h81 gigabyte motherboards. Had I have done more research I would have got a better model of motherboard but I was going on the parts list on a emulation forum and a post that any h81 motherboard works but looking back they may not have meant overclocking too. I tried to cancel it but missed the boat and it was a seller and not amazon direct. Yeah, it is kind of overkill at 4ghz but it seems to be almost a must with some ps2 and wii games at 1080p. Plus, I plan on adding games like Mortal Kombat X and Street Fighter V too. Thanks for the help.
