Can I overclock i5 2500k on AsRock h61 u3s3?

Please help me if the overclocking is possible with the stock cooler and on h61 u3s3 motherboard?

A little guidance would be really nice.

Don't want the extreme overclocking. Just a little bit like from 3.4 to 4 or something.

Okay. How are the following specifications for the latest generation games?


Core i5 2400 @3.1ghz.
AsRock h61.
Corsair Vengeance 4gb x 2
MSI R9 280x.

Would I be able to run games at ultra like BF4, GTA V and others?

Assuming that I will keep the MSAA off.

The CPU doesn't really affect what settings you can run, since the settings adjust the load on the graphics card.

The Core i5-2400 just means the max FPS you can reach by lowering settings will not be as high - but usually it should be good enough. And the 280X will allow at least high settings, but ultra is only going to be possible in some games at 1080p, not all.

I'm currently on 1280x1024. *Embarrassed* but I will be playing on 1080p in some time or at least 720p.

@720p the 280x will do ultra. @1080p you want something like a gtx 970 or r9-290x(going to require a beefier psu). In my other post I was assuming 1080p.
