Hi all, I am trying to increase my fps on CPU dependent games (BF4, FSX e.t.c) and the i5-3350P only runs at 3.3Ghz. I am willing buy the hyper 212 evo for cooling purposes if I can overclock. With my limited knowledge, I deduced that the k series processors are for overclocking and everything else is less suited to this. All my CPU cores are unparked and I want to overclock to maximise the CPU performance. Thanks and my specs are below:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3350P
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU: AMD R9 290 XFX Double Dissipation
PSU: XFX 650W Unit Bronze
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H
Plenty of external fans
1TB HDD 7200RPM
Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. If it's technically possible I'd like to go for it. I remember something about a base clock of the motherboard and increasing it only to 107Mhz? Might be completely wrong. Where would I find the BCLK in the BIOS? I am going to have a look now

Ok this is crazy... I booted into the BIOS and it freezes. Shows UEFI BIOS, a mouse and cannot move mouse, need to restart but go into BIOS and get same problem again. Read another forum that said it could be underpowered PSU? But I have XFX 650W PSU and this problem only started now.

Ok I managed to use the Intel Extreme Tuning tool to get my CPU clock up to 3.7 Ghz, however there are a bunch of power (Mv and Amps e.t.c) which I don't understand. My temps are under 70oC in benchmarks so any more performance increases possible would be appreciated. If I can use the power settings to do so please recommend changes

Dont go any further without the better cpu cooler. Also, no point messing with power settings when you are limited to a 400mhz overclock because its not a K or X CPU (fully unlocked).

If I underclock the RAM surely I can get higher as I think it is the RAM that is causing the issue. So underclocking it would prevent the 1600Mhz being exceeded. Past 104Mhz it crashes. Any software outside of BIOS to change RAM frequency?

Unlikely to be the RAM. The problem is the BCLK runs the speed of many other things that wont tolerate overclocking, like the SATA bus.

I presume you performed a good backup because increasing the BCLK can cause data corruption.

Hi, I know it's a bit late but I have the same processor and I would really like to put it up to 3.7 GHz like you managed to.
When I try to use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility the clock is locked (as all the internet says, only K type CPU's are unlocked), it would be amazing if you could share how you managed to up the 3350P clock to 3.7 GHz ?

Thanks alot!

You require a Z chipset motherboard, Z77 or Z68.Then you can increase the multiply by 4x.
