Can I overclock my fx 6300 with 550w PSU?

My PC's Configuration:

AMD FX 6300 (will receive CM Hyper 212X in next 2 days - So, no stock cooler)
M5A99FX Pro R2.0
R9 270X OC Edition
550W PSU

Is the PSU enough for overclocking my PROCESSOR and RAM?

Download the following program and observe the multiplier and temperature changes. I just try to keep my CPU temperature around 30 degrees Celsius (Yes, I have a strange obsession)

Read up on applying thermal paste to the cooler master and on the thermal paste that you will be using with the new heatsink. Some people fill in the ridges on the cooler master heatsink between the copper bars (I am not sure if that helps) and some thermal paste have a burn in period. The fx 6300 has a turbo clock to 4.1 GHz. The goal would be to...
Short answer: Get a 750 or 650 Watts if you are planning on leaving it overclocked. However even if you just just overclock just temporarily for gaming or resource intensive programs it is still cutting it close.

It depends on the PSU. I am not familiar with Amperage so I estimate by reducing the wattage by 20% so the wattage would be considered at 440 in this instance if it were a quality power supply with the fx 6300's max TDP at 95 Watts and the 270x's max TDP at 150 Watts. The combined TDP is 245 Watts or 56% of 440 Watts (the PSU's 'rated' capacity reduced by 20% for power lost as heat). It is best to keep the PSU's constant load at 60% or less unless if you swap out PSUs quite often then do whatever you want.

Thank you for your information. I thought of overclocking at first place but thinking to withdraw from it as I need to spend the money on PSU as well. Apparently, I need to bear the expenses on both PSU and aftermarket cooler, if I stick to OC. Instead, is it okay to upgrade my processor to FX 8350? The Price of both PSU and aftermarket cooler is almost similar to the new FX 8350 Processor. As I'm new to overclocking, I prefer buying a new processor itself. What's your opinion on it?

Upgrading to a fx-8350 is not really worth it. You can tell a difference but not by much, atleast in games.
As for overclocking it should work just fine on that psu. But you better just try yourself, your gpu won't pull that much.

Just increase the core clock, it shouldn't affect power usage that much. PLUS, the fx-8350 draws more power.

So, the current PSU is fine for overclocking? And would that OC be effective in playing HIGH-END GAMES? I mean like will I get MAXED OUT Frames per second @ ultra settings?

The fx 6300 has a turbo clock to 4.1 GHz. The goal would be to run it at up to 4.1 Ghz at 50 degrees or less under heavy stress. Just monitor the initial temperature and wait a week or two for a 2 to 5 degree drop in temperature if your thermal paste has a burn in period.

For what I use my computer for, I don't notice any performance improvement with a 1.1 GHz overclock.

The whole point of overclocking is to save money. Just don't overclock too much since you only have a 5% margin to work with. Read up on all the overclocking stuff to find the sweet spot before doing anything however the fx 6300 has the turbocore feature on it. I had to underclock my A6-5400k since it was hitting 75 to 80 degrees Celsius so I lowered the max multiplier to 25x or 2.5Ghz with the 100 Mhz bus and it dropped to about 50 degrees idle and 58 degrees while gaming so I am still waiting on FM2 cooler masters to drop in price or go on sale.

As I see only 5 % margin, I don't think that overclock would be much effective. And there would be something in my mind saying that I have to go with INTEL processor. But at the same time, I don't have the heart to leave my m5a99fx pro 2.0 motherboard (AM3+ Socket). It works like a boss. Otherwise, can you suggest me a better processor (which would work way more better than 6300) then? I want to get a better processor for this motherboard because I feel like FX 6300 is a bit of bottleneck for R9 270X OC'ed.

The main reason for overclocking is to see that a better processor won't do that much for improving performance without spending any money. The FX 6300 will probably run 'faster' after you get that cooler master installed properly with a good thermal paste. GPU bottleneck is highly unlikely without any generational gaps between the CPU and GPU.
