So my question is that is it possible to overclock my CPU?

Solution
The I5-4460 has a locked multiplier(you can't overclock it), because it's a non-k chip.
Also you won't be able to OC because of the H87 chipset motherboard.


BCLK overclocking is not that great of an idea(assuming that the board will allow him to do it), you might run into stability issues + performance gains are minimal(you might squeeze 200 MHz out of that chip at best).

Yeah true, i think if he wanted to overclock his cpu it cannot be an locked cpu. Usually H87 boards can overclock but, the small performance gains overclocking a locked cpu are not worth it.

It would be best for him to get a new cpu. Theres some used Haswell i5 CPUs on ebay for like $80-150
