Can i overclock this CPU on my Motherboard?

Hello.

I wish to buy Intel Pentium G3258 because of its high overclocked speed / price.

Currently im running MSI B75MA-E33 (MS - 7808) motherboard and wish not to change it.

I am wondering about how high could i overclock the cpu (ghz) on this motherboard?

Is there something else i should know? Like RAM compatibility?

Also for the temp im thinking of buying something like Master Hyper 212 EVO.

Please help.

Unfortunately the MSI B75MA-E33 is an LGA 1155 socket motherboard and the G3258 CPU is an LGA1150 processor, they are incompatible, it won't work.

You could go with a Intel Pentium G2130 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor if you like, same price range but it won't be quite as fast.

Just realized, the G2130 is a locked processor, you can still overclock but you have a locked CPU mulitplier.

I think ill be buying i3-4170 then (if it's compatible with my MB) or build a AMD X4 860K pc (i hope i can reuse some parts from my current pc)

No, again, the i3-4170 is a socket 1150 CPU. Here is a list of socket 1155 CPU's

Some of them can be had new from places like Newegg.com. Another route you might want to consider is buying a used processor off ebay. Plenty of 2nd generation

These will run circles around the new i3's you could buy new at half the cost.

If you look around there are businesses with good reputations and return policies that have these for sale. Or go with the private seller if you are comfortable.
