Can I overclock my P4??? Here are my specs....
Mainboard : Dell Computer Corp. 02Y832
Chipset : Intel i865PE
Processor : Intel Pentium 4 @ 2800 MHz

Not with a Dell system. If it was a home build or one from a high end system builder then yes. But Dells don't have the bios features needed to OC. And do not, I repeat, Do not use any sort of application that allows you to OC from Windows. They will not perform well and you run a heavy risk of damaging your system.

Spot on.. Exactly..

They are correct. Pitty too because the 865PE and the P4s from that erra were decent overclockers. I've got a 2.8C that will run 3.5GHz without any voltage increase.

If you were able to find a modded BIOS that unlocked certain hidden settings...

Hacker beware, I tried that with a motherboard once, an unofficial BIOS update that unlocked overclocking options, and bricked the MB. Had to buy a new BIOS chip online and wait 2 weeks till I could use my computer again. Taught me my lesson.

I did it for an old P2/P3 mobo. From a creative BlasterPC, found out the mobo model number and got the normal BIOS for it. So it wasnt really modded as such, the original BIOS was actually the modded one. Still couldnt OC much, but it was better than nothing. I dont think it will work with DELL mobos tho, unless they get the mobos from someone else.

Yes. Set your clock 5 minutes ahead
or ... put a clock over your computer. Both with boost your processing ability.

 Champ of smart@ss

Actually, you would have to put a clock under your pc - that way it would be "overclocked".

Even if you tried to use overclocking applications, like clockgen, it will not actually work, I've tried it, when I had a Dimension 5150 with a p4 630 @ 3.0GHz. I tried everything to overclock it, short of finding a modded bios, and nothing will work.

When the Conroe was created and NetBurst was becoming extinct, overclockers everywhere were happy. Why would you try to overclock that?

Pentium D chips are nativly faster then C2D, however, they are clocked too slow to take advantage of net bust.

If you OC a Pentium D 805 just 10%, it will perform as well or better then a e6600.

/lies... all lies.

The Pentium D 805 is a proven beast overclocker. However, I would like to see a few benchmarks on the comparison between the PD and E6600.
