Can someone help me with this please 🙏

I want to upgrade my laptop from 1x8 Gb to 2x8 Gb Ram

The maximum bandwidth support is 2400mhz.

So from HP it came with "1x8 GB 2666mhz CL17 17-17-17-39"

And I'm wondering if it's compatible with this "1x8 GB 2400mhz CL15 15-15-15-35" because it's the only 1x8 stick available at my local store.

If it's got 1 8gb in it already it should be able to support two for dual channel.

What model is it? I doubt very much HP would install 2666 ram when system is limited to 2400 unless it's processor based support and they just chose to go 2666 all round.

If your local store will take it back if it does not work try the ram.

What does the cpu-Z memory tab show?
spd shows the ram specs.
memory tab shows what speed and settings is actually running.

Intel processors are quite tolerant of diverse ram.
They will reduce specs to match speed and cas numbers. to get the ram to run.
If your store has a return policy, give it a try.
No guarantee,
