Can I pair my Gigabyte H81m-ds2 with an i7-4790 (non k)?

So I was planning to upgrade my i3-4160 and was going to stick to haswell for a couple of years, tight on cash for upgrading skylake so why not upgrade my i3-4160 to an i7 4790, i think it will last for a couple of years until another new cpu gen comes in. So is it ok to pair my Gigabyte H81m-ds2 motherboard with an i7-4790? (2nd option is i5-4690)

Yes you can add whatever CPU from 4th gen.
the high clocked 4th gen i5 CPUs can be found for under 100$
BTW, you can use a K versions as well if you find them for a good price

updating BIOS to the latest is generally a good practice
