Hi, i am currently using a technicolor tg797v3 modem router, it is basically a low spectrum router that im using in place of my older Netcomm nb16wv-03, which is an outstanding router might i say, due to the fact that it is in its older days it can no longer handle my networking needs. I cannot afford to purchase a new router like my old netcomm one as of now, so i am stuck in a situation where with the netcomm i have bad internet but VoIP which i need, or using my technicolour which has good networking, albeit baseline, it does the job, unfortunately it doesn't support VoIP. My question is, can i use both of the routers in tandem to get the best of both worlds? If so how can i do this? I have an Adsl2+ connection. What i have tried so far is connecting the technicolor to the wall as normal via dsl cable. Then connecting the netcomm to the technicolor from Ethernet port to the wan port on the netcomm and setting up the netcomm for use via wan. I also disabled WiFi on the netcomm, connection to the internet via both the netcomm router and the technicolor was a success however i cannot make calls nor receive them from my phone. The handset i have in directly connected to the netcomm via phone cable. Is it possible to get the phone to work? I am not advanced with networking, but i certainly know a bit more than the basics.
Basically, what im saying is, Can I use my old modem router, as a VoIP adapter.
Please share some knowledge.
Thanks, Joshua.
