Can I play 1080p on a 900p Monitor?

As the title said.. Can I?
As for example Ill play 1080p on any game using a monitor that has only 900p. What is the result in that? Is it much better to play also in 900p on a 900p monitor or play 1080p on a 900p monitor?

At best, the game area will overrun your monitor bounds and you'll only see part of the game. At worst, it won't even work.

1080p isn't that much anymore, you can probably find one in a thrift store if it really comes down to it.

Best case scenario trying to play 1080p on a 900p monitor it will down-convert it to 900p (likley at a slight performance loss due to the converting). Or more likely it will span to 1080p. thus part the game is spanning off the screen (imagine closing one eye and having to span right or left to see everything).
