[SOLVED] Can i play a 4k Movie on my 4K tv from my Laptop with HDMI?

I have an ACER E15 laptop with 940MX. and a 4k TV.

- Can i play the 4k blu-ray disc from my laptop and display it to 4k resolution on the TV via HDMI?
- Do i need a special HDMI cable?

If this is your laptop then no it has a DVD drive not a blu ray.

You'll break nothing if you just try - connect your laptop to the TV, configure it as Extended display, and see what resolutions you can set.

Yes no bluray drive, but if it's a 4k movie will i still be getting the UHD res?

Tried that, I get 3840x2160p(recommened) and also 4096x2160p Full screen all at 30hz. Even if my laptop doesn't play bluray, will i still get the UHD experience from the 4k movie?

Ultra HD Blu-rays require an Ultra HD Blu-ray player, a normal Blu-ray drive will not work.

You should go on youtube and search for "4k video ultra hd" and see if you can play them on the TV. While you may not be able to use UHD blu ray you maybe to download digital files at those resolutions.
