CAN i play games with direct x12 or not

I Have a graphics card that is Galax gtx 960 4gb oc.When i saw the box it says that directx 12 but when i played hitman and tried to change to directx12 that box was not selectable what can i do now. I purchased it for directx 12 but i cant play with that so guys give a suggestion.I have windows 8.1,8 gb ram,intel i5 6th generation proccesor.

Do you have your graphics driver up to date?

You need windows 10 for dx12. It will not work on 8.1 which only supports up to 11.

You need to be on Windows 10 to utilize DirectX12.
