Can I play gta V without new gta online updates?

It's 2017 and there are a lot of updates for gta online but I don't want them
After activating the game and installing the 5gb update ....can I play the game without other updates for gta online and just play gta 5 story mode offline?

Simply disconnect the internet before you launch the game. Actually the game asks if you want to update, so you can choose not to, except if it's really necessary for the base game.
