can i play xbox on my laptop via hdmi

I have a hp pavillion dv7-7030us entertainment Pc laptop and i just got a hdmi cable today and i was wondering is it possible to use my laptop as my monitor for xbox

No. that HDMI port is output only and wont accept an HDMI input.

Not really. You could use a capture card but the lag in the display would make most games unplayable.
