Hello, can I plug a SATA SSD right into my running system without shutting down? I know you can take it out without powering down, but couldn't find anything about the latter. Thanks
Your mobo and drive must both support hot-swappable SATA. I don't know of any SSD drives that are hot swappable.....you could give it a try....worst case scenario is your computer blows up....
Any SATA device can be plugged into a running system without a problem, SATA was designed to be hot pluggable. If the drive doesn't come up you may need to reboot for it to be recognized. I've done it dozens of times without issues.
