I dont have a wifi card instead im using a wireless adapter. Am i still able to plug in an ethernet cable into my pc or does it plug into a port connecting it to a wifi card?

Solution
The presence of Wifi will not remove the ability to connect via ethernet, no.

OUt of curiousity, what Wireless adapter are you using?

tplink tl-wn722n and i think i probably should have researched more before buying it since its drivers arent for windows 10. Im also thinking of getting a new router since mines extremely old. Looking at the Tenda AC6. Hoping to connect with ethernet and see if im having issues. When i game (since 2 days ago) ive been getting random ping spikes from 50 to 120-200 or sometimes up to 1600. I know i used advanced system care and smart defrag that day but ive used those lots of time. I dont think the issue comes from that. but basically when i ping google i get
time=14ms
time=14ms
time=14ms
time=110ms
time=14ms
time=14ms
Sometimes it goes up about 300-400 and lasts for like 10 seconds. Would you know where that issue could come from?

On the back of the adapter it says V1.10. But im not really sure which drivers i installed. I remember there wasnt a version for windows 10 back then so i had to do something like right click and change the compatibility mode to windows 7 which somehow did it for me.
