I want to use a SATA to USB adapter to connect a 3.5" drive to a laptop but it only works for 2.5" drives so I was wondering if its possible to get a AC adapter that has a SATA plug.

Solution
your best bet is to just buy a 3.5" enclosure. They are pretty cheap and most will get their power directly from the USB, if not they should include an adapter (but the adapter has to be used with the enclosure, not directly to the HDD)
