Can i power a 660 ti with 1 6 pin and 1 dual molex to 6 pin adapter
Cause i bought an Used OCZ 500w semi modular power supply and it originally came with

"4 peripheral's means molex cables"
  • 1 x 6-pin PCI-E
  • 1 x 6+2-pin PCI-E
  • 4 x Peripheral
  • 2 x Floppy
  • 6 x SATA
but its missing 1 x 6+2pin cable so i only have 1 6 pin cable and im upgrading from an hd 5770 to a 660 ti and i wanted to know if its ok to buy a dual molex to 6 pin and use my other 6 pin i still have to power the 660 ti and play games

i wont be overclocking so don't worry about that

The Graphics card im buying: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-660-ti.c364
The power supply i bought: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Cooling-Semi-Modular-Performance-OCZ500MXSP/dp/B001EZMEZO
The cable im buying: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Female-Premium-Graphics-Adapter/dp/B07G1PTF3H
ebay link to the cable : https://www.ebay.ca/itm/EVGA-Dual-M...919824?hash=item4b628c76d0:g:I1MAAOSw9P9csRX6

heres a photo of the side of the power supply and what specifications it has: https://images.esellerpro.com/2131/I/155/205/lrgscaleIMG_2921.JPG

I will be playing games like
  • battlefield 1
  • battlefield 5
  • csgo
  • minecraft
and maybe more afterwards and i will also be doing some video editing and regular stuff

Seems like a good PSU tho.
But If im not wrong the PSU seems like waaay back in 2009.

Just to say it "May" work without issue it "May" not work.
The trick is, we do not know how is PSU used, how hard and etc.
Same as my VS550 orange which is garbage but it did its job with R9 280, currently using the Delta PSU from like 2006?
But it has pretty stable, good capacitors tho.

But other thing is your GPU uses only max 150W~

Soo in theory you're good to go.

apaprently the psu wasn't used for mining but for light gaming the seller said and he said he upgraded long time ago....

also how much power does a dual molex to 6 pin cable deliver and how much does a regular 6 pin cable deliver?

If I am not mistaken:

Your 6 pin PCIe connector will give 75w in addition to the power given by your PCIe slot.
A single molex delivers 11A (132w on 12v)

This is just my view, but as a general rule of thumb for me, is that if the PSU doesn't have the connectors, then it probably wasn't made to run that type of GPU, even if it has the appropriate Amps on the 12v rails, and I would always rather err on the side of caution.

yes you are correct, the pcie connecter will give 75w including the power from the board and the power from the 2 molex to 6 pin will deliver the last amount needed.

Also the psu had the connectors before and was manufactured with those included conenctors but since i bought it used, the previous owner lost the cable since its a modular power supply.... but i get your point about what you said since its better for safety and performance and etc.
