No, it won't work.

You need an AMD CPU for AMD motherboards.

You need an Intel CPU for Intel motherboards.

No, that motherboard only supports first-generation Core i5 CPUs.

You would need either an H97 or Z97 motherboard to support the 4th gen (Haswell refresh) 4690k.
The Z97 is needed if you intend to overclock.

You could buy a H81 board for that 4690K for like $60. Just got one for a friend for a 4590 and it worked perfectly so they probably updated the BIOS before shipping. It is a generic motherboard but works fine.

A better option though is to go with AMD Ryzen but it'll cost you the CPU, MB & RAM (DDR4) so your looking at around $250 for something worthwhile.

Yes, it is better than the old I5.

You will need a new motherboard and ram, which will cost more than the I5 upgrade, but it does merit more performance.
