Can I put a q9400 in a dell xps 410

Solution
The XPS 410 is the same as my Dimension E520 but with room for a full size video card. The maximum CPU is QX6800SLACP. it can be unlocked with Throttlestop software. QX6700 is cheaper fi you don't want to put much money into it. I've had mine stable at 3.72GHz. 4GHz at CPUZ in my sig. The XPS should already have the T9303, or D9729 heatpipe cooler. If not get one. The new GTX1050 runs about the same as the R9-285 I ran. I got 7000 in Firestrike. No Radeons from R9-3xx (285) or newer, no UEFI cards. Get the latest BIOS from Dell. 8GB DDR2-800 low density RAM (chips on both sides of modules). See "Overclocking a dell BTX Computesr" in How To section. It's based on that system.

Looks like you can upgrade to either the Q6600 or Q6700.

Q6700 can be picked up for about $13-26 on eBay

Note: You will be going from a 65W to 105W CPU so be sure to apply new thermal compound if you are still working in the stock Dell case with their CPU Heatsink.
