Can I put a total of 6MB in an Optiplex 775

I have a Optiplex 775 Dell.
At this point t has 2 GB of memory. 2 x 1GB DIMM 1 and DIMM2 (the 3rd and 4th are empty)

Can I match the generation DDR pc2-6400 with a couple of 2GB of the same specs?

I need to know is a) can you have a total 6Mb of Ram in this computer?

b)assuming you can install 6 MB where do the 2 2GB cards go and where do the 2 1GB go

If you should want to upgrade your ram, you should pick out a kit. i.e go for a 4x2GB kit off Ebay and before it arrives at your doorstep, make sure you're on the latest BIOS revision and then drop in the ram. Might I ask which form factor you've got? An SKu would help us two fold.

Do you mean Optiplex 755? All I find on 775 is typos.
You could go to Crucial.com and use their memory advisor tool. It will show memory cpacity and kits. be sure and hit show more options in the results page.

You would put the 2x2GB modules in the White sockets, and the 2x1 GB modules in the Black sockets. I've run 6GB before with no problems.
