I know this might sound like a dumb question but I just want to double check. So I'm thinking of upgrading from my I5-7400 to the i3-9100F and they're both 1151, but when I go to pcpartpicker it doesn't show up as compatible even though my B250M Gaming Pro is also 1151. And if you know any possible upgrades that aren't that pricey, lets say like around $70- $150 budget. Thanks in advance :)

Solution
Although it was omitted, Intel's 8th and 9th gen cpus along with the 300 series motherboards are LGA 1151 V2.
Intel and the retailers never bothered to update that for some reason...
You're one of many to be confused by this.

Find a 2nd hand i7-6700, 6700K, 7700, or 7700K for under 100USD - heck, 70USD really. People try to charge too much for their 2nd hand Intel cpus.
If you're unsuccessful, you'll just have to save up more until you can afford a reasonable upgrade.
