Can I put SSD in old 1005HA?

Hi. I have an EeePC 1005HA which is a year and a half old. The hard drive just gave up the ghost - as far as I can tell it's completely buggered.

I haven't opened it up yet, but I assume it is a standard SATA 2.5" HDD. Is it possible for me to replace it with a 128GB SSD? Are there any considerations with doing this or can I just buy an SATA SSD and it will just work?

Also, if anyone could suggest any decent 128GB SSDs they've used that might be suitable for my netbook that would be very helpful.

Ta,
Robin.

All SATA connections are standard, so YES, no problem.

I recommend the OCZ Vertex 2. It should also come with a 3.5" adapter but I guess you don't need that.

Look at NCIX daily sales.

*Don't forget to flash the firmware on the SSD.

Thanks photonboy that's exactly the sort of response I was hoping for.

Although, what does it mean to "flash the firmware" of an SSD?

Also, will all 2.5" SSDs be exactly the same dimensions as a 2.5"HDD? I won't have any trouble fitting the SSD into my laptop will I?

Cheers,
Robin.
