Can i recover accidental formatted data from 1 TB Seagate HDD into the same Hard disk? Or should i get a new one to recover the data

Solution
If you formatted the drive, you can try THIS, but you WILL need a different drive to recover the data to. DO NOT TRY to recover to the same disk.

Thanks for the suggestion. But my problem is i'm using Linux now.

I was able to recover 3 out 4 partitions with testdisk software. But 3partitions are only 500gb data. That one big partition has 500gb data. Any Linux supported software?

I recovered 500gb of data by just unformatting the same HDD using testdisk though 500gb is yet to be recovered

I recovered 3 partitions(500gb) using testdisk and for the remaining 1partition(500gb) using photorec to recover maybe 20k files. Don't know what to do with those unnamed files. This is all without mounting.
