In an effort to make my PC run more quietly, I am exploring the option of removing one of the fans that sandwich my CPU radiator (closed water loop)

Current config is (fairly traditional for single rad set ups): One 120mm fan mounted to the back of my case blowing air out, mounted to that is my single radiator, and mounted to the other side is another 120mm blowing case air through the rad, and out the back of the case.

I'm currently seeing an average of 31 degrees.

The question is: Can I pull one of those fans off to quiet my PC? Which one should I pull? What are the risks? Will I get the noise relief i am looking for?

Thoughts?

Solution
You can take off the "pull" fan, the one thats sandwiched against the case.
Your processor shouldnt produce too much heat, so that should be fine. What specific AIO do you have? If its an H80i you can also lower the fan speeds.

A quieter cooler would be the best option (Air cooler)

I would certainly look into adjusting the fan speeds as you will still be able to have them ramp up when needed.

It may take some tweaking to get what you want.

Just keep an eye to ensure the temperatures do not go over what you are willing to have(or what the cpu maker recommends.).
