Depends on the specific chip.
The only 2.8GHz Pentiums I can think of would be P4's or PentiumD? If that's the case; no. They predate the "Core" lineups, and are not socket compatible.
*EDIT* My bad, there's a SandyBridge era Pentium clocked at 2.8GHz also, the G640.

If that's the chip you have, Sandy/IvyBridge i3/i5/i7 chips *should* be compatible with your board..
