Can i replace an athlon processor with a phenom processor in the same slot

Hey.... HELP ME
I want to play FIFA 15 but my processor is the
AMD ATHLON II x2 240 2.8ghz

which is very low and therefore it doesn't play....

I have decided to replace it with a phenom processor but i don't know if the phenom one will work properly or not

My Motherboard is ASUS M4N68T- M LE V2

You can put a Phenom II in there and it will work, that said it may not be just your processor thats an issue, what kind of Graphic card (GPU) do you have? Thats probably what will prevent it from running.

fx cpu-s dont work on am3, they need an am3+ socket motherboard.

As others have stated, any processor on the CPU Support List will work, to include any of the Phenom II processors listed there.

dont forget a good cooler if you plan to do any kind of overclocking amd's run hot to begin with

and a geforce gtx 650 graphics card
So i think that there is just one thing that is preventing it from running

Yeah I would say the processor is probably the issue. You should try to get the fastest Phenom II you can still find, as well keep in mind your GPU is the minimum requirement for FIFA 15, so it may still hold things back a bit, but it should work.

Keep in mind the Phenom II has been out of production for a number of years, so you will likely need to pick one up on eBay used. AMD no longer makes AM3 processors, everything is AM3+ which won't work.
