I have toshiba sattelite c660-2cg an i was thinking to upgarde its cpu (celeron b800) with I7-2670QM. My motherboard is PWWHA but i couldn't find the compability with other cpus. Please can you help me and tell what other cpus i can use, also i bought i5 3230m but its not compatible (probably cuz its 3. gen and has ivy brige and celeron is 2. gen and has sandy bridge)
Thanks :wahoo:

the best thing to do is look up the model number of your laptop and find out what CPU options were available for it. with pre-builds they can customize the BIOS to only work with certian CPU's when the motherboard should support more

first you need to make sure if the CPU is installed in a socket on the bord and is not soldered on

Its not soldered, i removed it couple of times, i even tried another cpu (i5 3230m) but it didnt work. Also this laptop is old and i had trouble finding drivers for it after reinstall, i think toshiba doesnt support this laptop any more, model is satellite c660-2cg
Part no. PSC1NE-016006Y4
It came with 4 gb ram but i inserted one more (1gb)

if you are trying to used a newer or older version of windows then what it originally came with then that would be the case. a google search with the model number and CPU should be able to bring up something

Ok, i have done some research and this came out https://www.notebookcheck.net/Toshiba-Satellite-C660-Series.47680.0.html
Here I found list that you were talking about. All these cpus are sandy bridge and should fit my laptop, they share same caracteristics with my laptop. Guess that my laptop only supports Arrandale CPUs. Here is the list of cpus:

Intel Celeron M 925, Intel Core 2 Duo T6670, Intel Core i3 2310M, Intel Core i3 370M, Intel Core i3 380M, Intel Core i5 2430M, Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500, Intel Pentium P6100

I don't find my celeron here but i guess these should fit, but if 2430M works, why 2540m wouldn't, or i7?

Also found this http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Mobile_Celeron_Dual-Core/B800.html

Not sure if you have changed your processor by now, but i also have a Toshiba Satellite C660-2CG. I changed the processor from the B800 to an i5-2520M. I wasn't willing to risk it too much, so I chose that processor. It actually works pretty well. Using BIOS 1.10 and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64. The temperature at idle on both the B800 and i5-2520M are the same 42C ( I assume because of the dynamic frequency setting in the bios being checked) and under 100% load on the B800 the max temperature was 58-60C. The max temperature under load on the i5-2520M was 77-80C. I was using prime95 to stress test the processors.
If you want to upgrade your processor to something better, be careful and think about how your new CPU can affect temperature, since it may cause random shutdowns. Also you should check if it the cpu is compatible with Intel HM65 Express chipset. And even if all of the above requirements meet you can never be 100% sure if it will work on that specific motherboard.
