Can i replace my pentium 4 2 4 g with a pentium 4 2 8

thats where i dont know, my puter wont boot with the better cpu and cant find a bios update or upgrade to my asus board

Unless you are getting the new CPU for free or very close to that, it is not worth bothering with.

The Pentium G630 costs around $55, uses about half as much power and would be 3-4X as fast. Of course, you would then need a new motherboard (~$80) and RAM (~$40), which would be a much better way to spend than keeping a P4 space-heater alive.
