Hi, My ISP provided me with a shitty Thomson TG782 Gateway. It lacks a bunch of features I'm interested in so I'm looking into replacing it.

I'm no networking savvy so I'm not sure what can I replace it with and how. What should I look for? Or should I just hook a router to it? I'd rather have just one device though. What would I have to configure to get the new modem/router/gateway to work, or is it just plug and play?

Any help is appreciated.

so I looked up the user manual for your router on MANUALLIB and at first glance this Wi-Fi Router seems to be for ADSL can you confirm what service is provided by your ISP (this is important), needing the name of your provider is also important.

the next step will to find out what...
can you please help us help you.....more information request

who is your isp, what is the speed you pay for? (options will very depeidng on who the isp as a replacement will have to be compatible with your service)

what features are you looking for. you say ur loking for specific features it would be helpful to list said features.

My ISP is Claro (Puerto Rico), I got 20mbps internet. I think it's DSL. And features I don't need much, but the main one is better network speed to transfer files across devices. I use remote desktop connection at home a lot and it's barely usable with current network speeds. I would like to be able to use Steam streaming a little better but that's not as important.

the next step will to find out what router/modem combo's can be used by your ISP (not all ADSL Services are made equal). and then we may be able to suggest something, but if you want more control, I know Netgear and TPLINK have very good ADSL modem/router combos.

Waiting for your reply to help you
