can i replace t2390 by t7400?

I am planning to replace Intel Dual core T2390 by T7400, both uses same socket i.e PPGA478. However I am worried if there is anything else should i consider before replacing?

I would think so. They are about the same wattage, the 7400 has a faster FSB, but other than that they seem quite compatible. There is a slight difference in voltage, but it doesn't seem very large.

The issue you may have is one of BIOS compatibility. The upgraded CPU may not be recognized by the BIOS if that CPU was not an option for the original system. What make/model is the laptop?

Thank you for the answers. The model is Advent 5301 and it has SIS M672MN chip set.

The upgraded CPU may work, and it may not. If the BIOS will recognize it, you may have a couple new issues: heat and power. The faster CPU will generate more heat. Just something to be aware of.
